It has been almost a year since the ‘PBB’ quiz

game raises concerns about the Philippine education system.

April 9, 2022, when the 3 priests GOMBURZA Trend Online After the PBB Quiz Game; In the episode of the Kapamilya reality show this Saturday, April 9, 2022, the second part of the history quiz challenge of the twelve teen housemates who are part of the weekly task and immunity challenge was aired.

In round 4 of the challenge, they competed on what they knew about Philippine history. The then host Robi Domingo ask them the question “"Ang tatlong Catholic priests na sina Mariano Gomez, Jose Burgos, at Jacinto Zamora na hinatulan ng kamatayan noong panahon ng Kastila ay mas kilala sa tawag na ____."

They then answered ‘Marjo?’ ‘Majoha’.

After It received backlash online, The PBB Housemates got a History 101 after a museum field trip by historian Ambeth Ocampo.

The reasons behind the youth’s lack of knowledge and interest in the country’s history can be broken down into three major factors.

a. Our country’s system of education—Our educational system is based on western educational policies and curriculum which is a huge impact on how our Filipino students think and learn

b. Environment—The student’s environment can be divided in three categories of family, community, and immediate social networks. These categories help shape the students on how they approach knowledge and learning

c. Culture—Our culture as Filipinos also has something to do with the knowledge and interest of the youth towards history, and it is easily identifiable though our younger generations’ preferences in different fields of interest.— John Emmanuel R. This specific PBB episode shed light on how many Filipinos, particularly young Filipinos, lack knowledge and interest in our country's history; we should be more willing to preserve what is always ours, which is our own history.
