FIRST BOOK ON THE PHILIPPINES ,1523

This rare first edition, in mint, condition, preserved in the Clements Library in the University of Michigan is an account of the Magellan expedition, taken down by Maximilian of Transylvania, for the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, shared in a letter to the Cardinal Archbishop of Salzburg.

My first time to physically handle a copy. Hidden inside the beautiful leather-bound tome are the bookseller's notes. The National Library of the Philippines has a copy from the Tabacalera Collection secured in a vault, not as fine as this one that looks like it just came from the printers.
